What's a good, simple test application to show me actual data throughput between 2 computers on a LAN? - lan network speed test

I work in a large LAN, and I am able to show users the actual speed of the network in bytes per second. Do not just want to send large files over them and see how long it takes, because it also depends on the speed of your computer. This test should be random data from a network card to generate and see how fast the other card and get the results in simple words can. In other words, only the network hammer and show me what you can do.

I have some programs that do similar things, or appear, but none that comes to this task. Everyone seems to be limited to the speed of a machine can be to pull data from disk (in the case of gigabit connections), and I would have said: "The actual speed between this building and the building is X megabytes per second.

Does anybody know a simple (price / demand) Free can do this?

It may also be limited by the bandwidth * delay product. Do not take this into account can have disastrous consequences if the systems are not set correctly.

Window size should be calculated correctly in order to keep enough packets in flight in the long line of fat does not cause dead spots in transmission. The default value for many systems is 32 KB which is not enough to expect decent performance.

A simple tool to calculate the bandwidth, not only the consideration of these factors (only the cable bundle throw).
